The Dentist Kid

Tonight I witnessed my own growth in real time — not through a big moment, but through a simple interaction that showed how far my instincts have come.
A mom walked in ordering for her son who had just come from the dentist. The kid wanted chicken tenders. We don’t serve tenders. Instead of shutting her down with “we don’t have that,” I read the real need behind the request:
Soft food. Easy chew. Familiar flavor. No pain.
I guided her to the Chicken Biscuit — pulled breast meat, tender, minimal resistance, the closest match to what her son wanted without hurting him. She listened, trusted the reasoning, and nodded.
Then I framed the rest:
Her son wanted mac n cheese.
I positioned the combo as the complete solution — the main, the side and the drink.
Not an upsell.
A package that solved her problem.
She thanked me.
Not for the sale — for the guidance.
I watched them sit outside afterward, the mom relaxed, the kid eating comfortably. That’s the part that matters. That’s the part that stays with me.
Service isn’t taking orders.
Service is understanding people.
Service is seeing the need behind the words.
Service is guiding, not pushing.
Tonight I didn’t just ring up a meal —
I made someone’s evening easier.
That’s RCC.
